Irpin ( Ukrainian Ірпінь ; Russian Ирпень Irpen ) is a city in the Ukrainian Oblast of Kiev with around 47,000 inhabitants (2016). The city is located about 27 kilometers northwest of Kiev on the banks of the Irpin and is surrounded by the Kiev-Svyatozhyn district . From an administrative point of view, the city is divided into the three urban-type settlements Worsel , Hostomel and Kozjubynske .
history
A holiday resort Irpin was founded in 1899 when a railway line from Kiev to Kovel was built here. In 1958 Irpin received city rights.
