Hostomel ( Ukrainian Гостомель ; Russian Гостомель Gostomel ) is on the shore of Irpin preferred urban-type in the Ukrainian Oblast with 16,200 inhabitants (2019).

Geographical location

The village, surrounded by the Kiev-Svyatoshyn district, borders the city of Butscha and belongs administratively to the municipality of Irpin .

In the northwest of the settlement belonging to the Kiev agglomeration is the international cargo and factory airport Kiev-Gostomel . The settlement is connected to the Ukrainian trunk road network via the M 07 , the T -10-11 and T-10-02 .

history

The village, founded in 1494, received Magdeburg city rights in 1614 . Hostomel has had urban-type settlement status since 1938.
