Baryschiwka ( Ukrainian Баришівка ; Russian Барышевка Baryschewka ) is the administrative center of the Ukrainian Rajon Baryschiwka in the east of the Kiev Oblast with about 10,800 inhabitants (2018).

The villages of Passichna ( Пасічна ) and Schwatschycha ( Швачиха ) belong to the settlement community .

Baryschiwka is located about 70 km east of Kiev at an altitude of 102  m on the bank of the Trubisch and about 6 km north of the trunk road M 03 / E 40 between Kiev and Kharkiv . In the south the settlement has a train station on the Kiev – Poltava railway line .

history

The town, first mentioned in writing in the years 1125-26, had 1630 1630 inhabitants. Taras Shevchenko visited the village in 1843 and 1844 . From September 1941 to September 1943, Baryschiwka was occupied by the Wehrmacht .

The population consists of 94% Ukrainians, 4.7% Russians , 0.5% Belarusians .
