Stavyshche (Ukrainian Ставище ; Russian Stavishche , Polish Stawiszcze ) is the capital of the Ukrainian Rajon Stavyshche and is located about 122 kilometers south of Kiev on the Hnylyj Tikytsch River .
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1622 and at that time still belonged to Poland . In 1635 he was granted Magdeburg city charter, after the partition of Poland in 1795 it fell to Russia and was then in the Kiev governorate until 1918 . Stavyshche has had urban-type settlement status since 1956 .
