The gostomel airport ( Ukr. : Антонов аеропорт or Аеропорт Гостомель ), also known as Airport Gostomel known, an international freight and business airport near Hostomel , a small suburb about 20 km from Kiev in the Ukraine removed. The airport itself is located 5 km northwest of Hostomel and 26 km from Kiev and serves as a hub for Antonov Airlines . There is also a German research institute for aviation, which is operated by the Antonov construction office (ANTK im. Antonowa).
Other nearby airports include Kiev-Boryspil Airport , which is primarily for passenger traffic, and Kiev-Zhuliany Airport , which is smaller than Boryspil Airport.
The only operational Antonov An-225 , the largest aircraft in the world, is stationed in Hostomel.
Location and transport links
The airport is located 26 km northwest of Kiev . From there it can be reached by taxi , bus , trolleybus and other local means of transport . However, there is no direct subway station for the Kiev metro . It is also located on European route 373, which is also the Ukrainian trunk road M 07 , the T -10-11 and the T-10-02. It is 5 km to Hostomel.
Infrastructure
The airport is in the state register of all Ukrainian airports and is equipped with an instrument landing system (ILS) of category 1 (Cat.I) on the 3500 m long and 56 m wide runway 15/33 . The airport also has enclosed heated hangars so that repair and maintenance work can be carried out on any class of aircraft, including the Antonov An-225 , Antonov An-124 , and the Boeing 747 .
