The Luhansk Airport ( IATA code : VSG, ICAO code : UKCW ) was the international airport of the Ukrainian city of Luhansk . It was located about 20 km south of the city center. During the war in Ukraine , the airport was destroyed in combat operations. The airport was closed on June 11, 2014.

Destinations

From December 2009 until the end of flight operations, the airport was used as a base by the airline UTair Ukraine .

Incidents

  • On March 31, 1971, an Aeroflot Antonov An-10 ( registration number CCCP-11145) had an accident during landing due to structural failure (loss of the right wing). All 65 occupants (eight crew members and 57 passengers) were killed in the accident.
