The airport Ivano-Frankivsk ( Ukrainian Міжнародний аеропорт "Івано-Франківськ" Mischnarodnyj aeroport Ivano-Frankivsk , Russian Международный аэропорт "Ивано-Франковск" Meschdunarodny aeroport Ivano-Frankovsk ) ( IATA code : IFO , ICAO code : UKLI ), the international airport of the Ukrainian city of Ivano-Frankivsk . It is located 4 km southwest of it and counted around 96,000 passengers in 2009. The airport is located on an area of 19.7 hectares.
Location and transport links
The airport is located 4 km southwest of the city center Ivano-Frankivsk away, and with buses , trolley buses , route taxis , taxis and other transportation links within easy reach. It is located on the T – 09–06 territorial road , which runs from Bystryzja in the Carpathian Mountains to the center of Ivano-Frankivsk.
Ivano-Frankivsk train station in the city center is 5 km from the airport and, like the city center, can be reached by many local means of transport.

- In May 1959 the first passenger flight with an IL-12 made its way to Moscow.
- 1962: On the southern outskirts of the city, in the village of Opryshivtsi , a building was built at the airport, which was completely rebuilt in 1990.
- In 1975 the airport counted 250,000 passengers
- From December 25, 1990, due to the construction of an artificial runway, first-class aircraft could land in Ivano-Frankivsk.
- In 1992 the airport received international status
- On May 22, 1993, a Boeing 737 landed in Ivano-Frankivsk for the first time , opening international scheduled operations.

The airport has a runway 2,507 meters long and 44 meters wide with an instrument landing system . The runway is made of concrete and is called 10/28. Although it still has a 1928 meter long concrete runway, it is used for military purposes. The airport has also had border and customs controls since 1992 and is able to handle 400 passengers an hour.
