The Chernivtsi Airport ( Ukrainian Міжнародний аеропорт "Чернівці" ) ( IATA code : CWC, ICAO code: UKLN) is the commercial airport of the city of Chernivtsi in the Ukrainian Chernivtsi Oblast .
The airport is located 7.5 km southeast of the city center of Chernivtsi and handled 12,600 passengers in 2016.
It was built during the Romanian rule over the Bukovina and opened in May 1933 by the Romanian King Carol II .
The Chernivtsi airport has a 2,216 m long and 42 m wide asphalt runway and has, since February 2017, the suitability for aircraft such as EMBRAER 190 / 195 , Boeing 737-500 and Airbus A319 .
The Ukrainian airline Ukraine International Airlines flies from Chernivtsi to Kiev-Boryspil Airport .
