Oleksandra Wolodymyriwna Kuschel ( Ukrainian Олександра Володи́мирівна Кужель ; born July 4, 1953 in Kostjantyniwka , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian politician who was a member of the Verkhovna Rada for a long time .

Career

Kuschel studied at the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine and the Zaporizhia State Engineering University . There she graduated in 1983 with a Ph.D. in economics .

In 1994 Kuschel was elected to parliament for the Labor Party of Ukraine for the first time , and in the following year she was promoted to parliament's national audit committee. After the missed re-election in 1998, she was appointed to the state committee for regulatory policy and entrepreneurship by President Leonid Kuchma . In 2004, under Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych, she was promoted to Deputy Minister of Construction. During the tenure of Yulia Tymoshenko in 2005, she remained in office, which she had to give up in December 2007, when she was again prime minister.

In 2012 Kuschel switched to Tymoshenko's party All-Ukrainian Association "Fatherland" . In the parliamentary election in the same year , she won a parliamentary seat, which she was able to claim in the general election in 2014 . As a result of the landslide victory of the newly formed Sluha narodu in the 2019 parliamentary election , she lost her client.
