Olesja Ivanovna Barel ( Russian Олеся Ивановна Барель ; born February 9, 1960 in Kostroma , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a former professional Russian basketball player who competed for the Soviet Union.
Olesja Barel won the bronze medal with the Soviet team at the 1988 Olympic Games . The six-time European champion (1980, 1981, 1983, 1985, 1987 and 1989) also won the world title in 1983, with the Soviet team beating the US team in the final with 84:82.
In the 1990s Barel played for the French club Challes-les-Eaux Basket , a Belgian and a Russian club.
