Olga Lara

Olga Francia Elena Lara D'Soto (born September 16, 1953 in Azua de Compostela ) is a Dominican singer and composer .

Lara had piano and guitar lessons in her childhood: she trained as a foreign language secretary at the Colegio de Monjas San José until 1977 and then worked in various banks and financial institutions and as an English teacher at the Colegio Calazans . Her musical career began in 1979 when her talent was discovered by the cultural journalist Frank Natera . With the support of Bienvenido Bustamante López and the television producer Yaqui Núñez del Risco , her first LP was created with the titles “Te quiero mucho todavía”, “Me tiene sin cuidado”, “Hombre de Mundo”, “Cuando llegue mi invierno”, “Nadie jamás ”And“ Sé ”.

As a singer and composer, she received the Revelación del Año in 1980 , and in 1982 she was declared Cantante Popular del Año . For the songs Aprenderé , Te quiero mucho todavía and Me estoy muriendo , she was nominated as songwriter of the year in 1983 alongside Cheo Zorilla and Leonor Porcella de Brea . In 1984 her ballad No te creas was named Record of the Year and Mi vida was awarded the Premio El Dorado as Merengue of the Year .

In 1993 her album La revancha was released , including the songs La Revancha , No te vayas , Dame tu amor , Que otra se muera por ti and Amor a escondidas . Her show Cristal at the Teatro Nacional 1995 was awarded the Premio Casandra as Espectaculo del Año .
