Elizabeth Despenser

Elizabeth Despenser (also Elizabeth Arundel , FitzAlan or Zouche ; † April 10 or 11, 1408 ) was an English noblewoman.

Elizabeth Despenser was a daughter of Edward le Despenser, 1st Baron le Despenser and Elizabeth Burghersh. Her first marriage was before 1385 John Arundel, 2nd Baron Arundel , a son of John Arundel, 1st Baron Arundel and Eleanor Maltravers, 2nd Baroness Maltravers . After the death of her husband in 1390, she married after April 28, 1393 William Zouche, 3rd Baron Zouche of Haryngworth , a son of William Zouche, 2nd Baron Zouche of Haryngworth and Elizabeth de Ros. He died in 1396.

In her will, drawn up on April 4, 1408, she wished to be buried in Tewkesbury Abbey , where many of her ancestors were buried.

Descendants

From her marriage to John Arundel, she had at least one son:

John inherited the title of Baron Arundel from his father in 1390 , the title of Baron Maltravers from his grandmother in 1405 and the title of Earl of Arundel from his cousin Thomas Fitzalan, 12th Earl of Arundel in 1415 .
