Meriç Yavuz (born August 2, 1965 in Ankara ) is a German- Turkish soccer player .

Career

Yavuz was born in the Turkish capital Ankara and moved with his parents to the Ruhr area as a child . As a teenager he played for SG Wattenscheid 09 and in 1982 became German champions with the B-Jugend . In the final, the Wattenscheider prevailed 3-1. In 1985 Yavuz moved up to the first team and celebrated his debut in the 2nd Bundesliga on March 11, 1986 in a 3-1 win against MSV Duisburg . In total, Yavuz played 13 times for Wattenscheid in the 2nd Bundesliga before moving to the upper division Arminia Bielefeld in 1988 . For Arminia he scored two goals in 27 games and was runner-up in 1989. He then played for another year for Wuppertaler SV .

Yavuz plays for the traditional FC Schalke 04 team today . In addition, he was active as a trainer for Sportfreunde Gelsenkirchen .
