Rosa Olitzka ( September 6, 1873 in Berlin - 1949 ) was a German opera singer ( Kontra-Alt ).

Life

After receiving training from Désirée Artôt de Padilla and Julius Hey , she devoted herself to the stage. She found one of her first engagements in Brno, then she came to the Hamburg City Theater, and here and there this excellent contralto received strong applause. Most of her real successes were at the Coventgardentheater in London and at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. But not only on the stage, also in the concert hall, her splendid counter-alto received stormy recognition, and she won rich laurels both as a stage singer on her guest tours in Italy, France and Russia, and as a concert singer in Germany. The great power and fullness of her voice, the source of the sound, the lively expressiveness and the excellent performance were always praised.
