Oliver Vogt

Oliver Matthias Vogt (born March 18, 1980 in Basel ) is a former Swiss basketball player . The 2.09 meter tall center player was the captain of the Swiss national team and four times Swiss champion.

career

Vogt grew up in Dornach and began playing basketball in the BC Arlesheim youth movement. Between 1999 and 2001 he played at Rose State College in the US state of Oklahoma  and in the 2002/03 season for the team at Pittsburg State University in Kansas .

In the following professional career Vogt was in the 2003/04 season with BC Boncourt and from 2004 to 2006 with Herens Basket under contract before he moved to Benetton Friborg Olympic . In 2004 he had already become Swiss champion with Boncourt, and two more titles were added in Friborg in 2007 and 2008. He stayed in Üechtland until 2012 and played for the Lions de Genève in the 2012/13 season , with whom he won his fourth title as Swiss champion that season.

At the end of his playing career, Vogt played for the BC Mtaspere club on the French island of Mayotte between 2013 and 2015 . For the club he also played in the FIBA Africa Cup .

After the end of his playing career, he began studying sports in Magglingen .

National team

With the Swiss senior national team, Vogt took part in the European B Championships in 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011, among others. In 2013 he was appointed captain.

During his playing career, he took on the post of assistant coach and team manager for the Swiss national team in the summer of 2014.

Others

According to his own statements, Vogt has a perfect match record against Roger Federer . In an interview with the Basler Zeitung in November 2011, he said that he once played a match against the future star at a tennis camp in Pratteln . When the score was 3: 3, he won by breaking, as Federer had thrown his bat twice, which, according to the rules of the camp, led to the opponent's 6-0 victory.
