Olivia Block

Olivia Block (* around 1980) is an American improvisation musician ( piano , keyboards , prepared piano , live electronics, composition ).

Live and act

At the beginning of her career, Block first played the trumpet with Pauline Oliveros and turned to electroacoustic music since the late 1990s ; she uses field recordings , digital effects and synthesis. In addition to her publications on sound carriers, she produced sound installations and music for performances and films. Since her debut album Pure Gaze (1999) she has cooperated a. a. with Kyle Bruckmann , Jeb Bishop , Seth Nehil , Ernst Karel , Mark Fry and Greg Kelley ( Resolution , 2011). Block also wrote compositions for orchestras such as the Chicago Composer's Orchestra.
