Olivier Pere

Olivier Père (born March 17, 1971 in Marseille ) is a French film critic . From 2009 to 2012 he was artistic director of the Locarno International Film Festival .

Life

Olivier Père attended the Lycée Claude Fauriel in Saint-Étienne and studied humanities at the University of La Sorbonne ( Paris IV ). After moving to the Cinémathèque française in 1995 , he soon became the program manager and organized numerous tributes and theme cycles.

Père was head of the Quinzaine des réalisateurs , the independent programming section of the Cannes International Film Festival . From 1997 he worked as a film critic for the cultural magazine Les Inrockuptibles .

From September 2009 Père was the artistic director of the Locarno International Film Festival. At the end of August 2012, after three years, he resigned to take up the post of General Director of Arte France Cinéma at the beginning of November .
