Olkiluoto [ ˈɔlkiluɔtɔ ] is an island in the Gulf of Bothnia off the west coast of Finland . It is located in the Satakunta countryside around 25 kilometers north of the city of Rauma and is part of the Eurajoki municipality . The island, about 6 kilometers long and 2.5 kilometers wide, is only separated from the mainland by a narrow sound and can be reached via a bridge.

Olkiluoto is the location of the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant with two boiling water reactors . A new reactor block of the type EPR is currently being built, which, according to today's information, should go online in 2021. In addition, the Olkiluoto repository and a seaport are located on the island .
