history

Olustvere was first mentioned in a letter dated March 18, 1424. The well-preserved manor house of Olustvere was built in its present form at the end of the 19th century in the English Art Nouveau style. From 1920 an agricultural school was housed there.

Olustvere was a separate municipality until October 22, 2005 before it became part of the Suure-Jaani municipality.

Culture and sights

The Olustvere manor house is now used as a tourism and conference center as well as a small local museum. There are also over 30 outbuildings, which include a home economics school. The manor's park was probably laid out in the French style in the 19th century . Old linden , oak and ash trees and a 10 km long avenue are still preserved from this time.
