Olympos Mons was a Finnish power metal band formed in 2002 by guitarist Jari Sundström and singer Ian E. Highhill.

history

The passion for melodic and symphonic metal led the two to found their own band in order to fully develop their creativity . Both musicians had already gained experience in other bands. Jari felt equally at home in the world of classical music and rock and metal . His compositions and his aggressive style of playing guitar made him popular in the local scene. Ian, on the other hand, was known as the author of dark romantic texts.

Their first demo, Seven Seas , was released in August 2002 and clearly showed the musical direction of Olympos Mons. The mixture of string instruments , bagpipes and harps served as the basis for versatile metal songs. The demo aroused the interest of several record companies . For this reason, new musicians were sought to complete the line-up. Drummer Mikko Sepponen and session keyboardist Vili Ollila joined the band.

In autumn 2004 her debut album Conquistador was released by Limb Music Productions . The reviews were mostly positive and the album sold a few thousand copies in the first two months.

At the end of 2005, Krister Lundell joined the band because Olympos Mons did not have a bass player at that time.

In July 2006 her second album Medievil was released. Due to musical differences, Olympos Mons switched to the Italian record company Scarlet Records in February 2007 .
