Luis Omar Cáceres (born July 5, 1904 in Cauquenes , † September 6, 1943 in Renca ) was a Chilean poet.

Cáceres grew up in the 1920s under the influence of poets such as Pablo de Rokha and Ángel Cruchaga Santa María and dealt with literary criticism, especially in the magazine Diario ilustrado . For some time he was involved in the Communist Party . Cáceres' poems appeared in 1931 in the anthology La poesía chilena moderna by Rubén Azócar and in 1935 in the Antología de poesía chilena nueva by Volodia Teitelboim and Eduardo Anguita .

In 1934 his collection of poems Defensa del ídolo was published . Annoyed by numerous printing errors, he tried to destroy the entire edition. Only a few copies escaped the action and became the basis for new editions of the work. In September 1943 Cáceres died under circumstances that have not yet been clarified.
