Omar del Carlo
Omar del Carlo , also Omar Del Carlo ( 1918 - June 19, 1975 in New York City ), was an Argentine playwright.
Del Carlo was one of the great playwrights in Argentina in the 1950s and 1960s. In 1948 Electra al amanecer appeared . His drama Proserpina y el extranjero was the model for Juan José Castro 's opera of the same name from 1951. Works such as Jardín de ceniza and Donde la muerte clava sus banderas followed . The latter piece premiered in 1959 at the Comedia Nacional , directed by Orestes Caviglia, with Alberto Candeau and María Luisa Robledo in the leading roles. Del Carlo later moved to the United States, where he died in 1975.
