Omega Men

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Omega Men (dt. Omega-Menschen ) is the title of various comic series that the American publisher DC-Comics has published since 1983.

Publication history and plot

Omega Men is about the adventures of a fictional group of alien refugees of different species living in the star system Vega, which is dictatorially ruled by the fascist regime of the Citadellians .

Before the main characters of the Omega Men got their own ongoing series, the main characters were featured in issue # 141 of June 1981 of the DC series Green Lantern . The author of this “debut story” was the author Marv Wolfman . The first independent Omega Men series appeared between April 1983 and May 1986 and comprises 38 issues. The series was written by authors such as Roger Slifer , Doug Moench and Todd Klein, while the visual design of the booklets was entrusted to artists such as Keith Giffen , Tod Smith, Shawn McManus and Alex Nino, and ink artists such as Mike DeCarlo , Jim McDermott and Greg Theakston. Individual stories are also published in German, initially in 1982 and 1983 by Ehapa in Green Lamp # 1– # 3, # 7 and # 8. Three stories came out in 2005 at Panini in the special issue Lobo's greatest Hits No. 1 . 15 issues of the series were published in French by Arédit from 1985 to 1986 , 14 were published in Spanish by Zinco from 1084 to 1986.

In 2006, a six-part mini-series, written by the author Andersen Gabrych and visually designed by the painter Henry Flint, was published, which retells the subject in a contemporary adaptation.

Since August 2015, a third series (maxi series) with twelve issues has been published under the Omega Men title.

Spin-offs

The popularity of the intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo , who initially appeared as a villain in some of the Omega Men stories , meant that he - after appearing in various other series - was made the focus of numerous own publications from 1989 onwards.
