concept

omega tau is an interview podcast. The editors speak to one or more experts in the area covered in the episode by phone, Skype or on site. In addition, omega tau also publishes reports recorded on site, for example flights on planes or rides on a locomotive, as well as visits to factories, construction sites and research facilities. As with CRE , the episodes are often several hours long in order to be able to explain the topic in due depth. The topics of the new episodes will be announced in advance on Twitter and Facebook . Listeners can use these channels to propose their own questions and topics or interlocutors.

In April 2020, Markus Völter published an English book called Once You Start Asking , in which he detailed some of the topics recurring in the podcast, including gravitational waves , telescopes , the LHC and the discovery of the Higgs boson , the use of models in science and engineering.

Thematic focus

The main focus of omega tau lies in the sciences, above all on the natural sciences, but computer science and economics are also regularly topics. In the subject area technology the focus is on engineering topics, such as engines or track construction, as well as air and space travel , in which case many interviews with engineers or pilots appear on specific aircraft and spacecraft.

reception
