Omer Said Ali
Omer Said Ali , also Omar Said Ali , Sorani عومەر سەید عەلی, (* 1945 in Sulaimaniyya ) is a politician in the Kurdistan Autonomous Region . He has been General Secretary of the Gorran party since May 2017 .
biography
In 1974 he joined the Peshmerga . In 1975 he took on a management position at Komala . In 1976 he was sentenced to six years in prison, but released after three years under an amnesty. He rejoined the Peshmerga and was wounded in an air raid on Kewa Rash in 1980. In 1992 he was elected to the Kurdistan Parliament. He was a member of the PUK's political bureau , which he left in 2009 to join the Gorran party. After the death of Nawschirwan Mustafa , he was elected as the new general secretary by the supreme body of Gorran with 38 of 56 votes.
