Omero Capozzoli

Omero Capozzoli (born August 3, 1923 in Montevideo , Uruguay , † 2001 ) was a Uruguayan painter and cineast.

Live and act

Capozzoli studied art history , painting, drawing, anatomy and education from 1944 to 1950 . He also modeled and illustrated at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes (ENBA). In 1958 he took part in an archaeological expedition in northern Argentina. In 1960 and 1961 he was part of the governing body of the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes. Capozzoli was also a member of the Instituto Uruguayo de Artes Plásticas and was a member of the advisory commission for setting up the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art in Montevideo and, from 1971 to 1972, the management commission of Amigos del Arte . He was also a member of the Club del Grabado .

Capozzoli has also been described as one of the pioneers of Uruguayan film. His film Los Ojos del Monte is based on a story by Alfredo Gravina .

He has had solo and group exhibitions in Uruguay as well as in Argentina, Venezuela, Chile and Switzerland, among others. His works of art are represented in private collections around the world. Examples include collections in Argentina, Venezuela, Chile, Mexico, Spain and the USA. The Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (MNBA) also houses his work. At XXVII. Salón Nacional he was awarded the bronze medal in 1963. In 1967 he received the gold medal at the Salón de Primavera .
