Omnium solicitudinum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The papal bull Omnium solicitudinum of September 12, 1744 was promulgated by Pope Benedict XIV .

This bull is directly related to the bull Ex quo singulari published by him in 1742 . In this new bull he responded to the missionary practices of the Jesuits sent to China and India to proselytize . In this bull he describes the apostolic mandate and explains that the missionaries should see themselves as “outposts” for Christian conversion.

In this bull he summarized all missionary activities performed so far and underlined their importance. At the same time he called the missionaries, primarily the Jesuits, to obedience. He explained the doubts and modifications and complained that the instructions in the first bull had not been carried out in full and in the apostolic sense.
