On a hajm (in German: Without a home ; Polish Bezdomni ) is the last Yiddish-language film in Poland before the German Wehrmacht invaded.
It is based on a text by Jacob Gordin and describes the poverty of many Jewish families in Poland and the great difficulties in establishing a new existence in the USA . Some famous Yiddish actors from Warsaw were involved in the film, such as Aleksander Marten, Ida Kamińska , Szymon Dżigan and Izrael Szumacher .
The film premiered in January 1939.
