Ondřej Liška (born July 14, 1977 in Brno , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech politician of the Green Party (Strana zelených).

Life

Liška studied political science and religious studies and then got involved in international youth encounter and religious work. He was a member of the Brno City Parliament from 2003 to 2005. From 2003/2004 he worked as a consultant for the Green Group in the European Parliament . In 2006 he was elected to the Czech Chamber of Deputies. In December 2007, after the resignation of his party colleague Dana Kuchtová , he took over the post of minister for schools, youth and sport in the Topolánek government , which he gave up after the fall of the government in May 2009.

After the poor performance of the SZ in the European elections (2.1%) and the resignation of party chairman Martin Bursík , Liška was entrusted with the transitional chairmanship and the top candidate of the Greens for the early parliamentary election in 2009, which, however, after a negative vote by the Constitutional Court against the premature dissolution of parliament were canceled. At the party congress in December 2009, Liska was confirmed as party leader with 170 of 253 votes (with two remaining opposing candidates) and thus also led the party into the regular parliamentary elections in spring 2010, in which the Greens clearly returned to parliament with 2.4% missed. Nevertheless, Liska was confirmed in the party chairmanship in November 2010 with 125 out of 209 votes.
