OneRiot was founded in November 2008 real-time - search engine for social web content (news, videos and blogs).

Instead of indexing the whole Internet like a classic search engine, OneRiot limited itself to searching for information on Twitter and Digg ; the respective number of urls currently sent there determined the ranking . So you got up-to-date relevant results. New content is captured within 35 seconds. OneRiot offered an API interface.

OneRiot was founded by Spark Capital, Appian Ventures, and Commonwealth Capital Ventures, and individuals Brad Feld and Kimbal Musk . The headquarters were in Boulder , Colorado with additional offices in San Francisco . $ 20.3 million in initial capital was invested in the company. OneRiot now had 28 employees, with Kimbal Musk as its CEO.

OneRiot has since retired after being acquired by WalMart in September 2011.
