Online security check

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The online security check OSiP is a software application of the IT Planning Council of the Federal Republic of Germany from 2017 and is used for personal reliability checks in various areas of application, such as B. Air and port security, naturalization, gun ownership, soldiers (MAD), trade law and more.

background

According to the IT State Treaty of 2010, the IT Planning Council coordinates the cooperation between the federal and state governments in matters of information technology and is subordinate to the Chancellery . A number of laws require personal security and background checks prior to granting access to security-related or non-public areas. Various bodies are regularly involved in carrying out the background checks. The IT process online security check (OSiP) enables the various participants and user groups to be integrated into automated processes that are largely free of media disruption. Many areas of application can already be implemented with OSiP with IT support. Further areas of application can be added if there is a corresponding legal basis.

In 2018 OSiP took second place in the eGovernment competition in the category of best cooperation project and first place in the World Summit Award Germany .

Areas supported by OSiP

For the reliability check in different application areas, uniform standards are used for efficient processing of the applications, so that OSiP is used as the central interface for many application areas and can easily be expanded for new application areas. In particular, the inclusion of the intelligence agencies ( constitution protection , police and the federal registers) is a special distinguishing feature of OSiP. Almost all state criminal investigation offices have declared their willingness to integrate into the OSiP network.
