Onogawa Kisaburo , Japanese 小野 川 喜 三郎 , actually: Kawamura Kisaburō ( 川村 喜 三郎 ; * 1758 in Shiga Prefecture ; † April 30, 1806 ) was a Japanese sumo wrestler of the late Edo period . He is one of the two earliest historically documented yokozuna and is still officially the fifth holder of this rank .

Like Tanikaze , Onogawa was made a yokozuna in November 1789. Like this he fought before as sekiwake and was after his appointment to the stars ( Banzuke than) Ozeki out. He was 1.78 m tall and weighed 135 kg. In his career he achieved a total of seven tournament victories.

After Onogawa's abdication in October 1797, there was no yokozuna for 30 years, although Raiden Tameemon would have been a suitable candidate, whose appointment failed due to political rivalries.
