description

Onosma tridentina is a perennial plant that develops several flower-bearing stems . These reach heights of growth of 20 to 40 cm, are unbranched or branched up to six times at the tip and have dense, fine hairs and are hairy with 2 to 3 mm long, usually star-shaped bristles. The rays of the star-shaped bristles are 0.1 to 0.2 mm long. The lower leaves are 60 to 130 mm long and 3 to 5 mm wide, linear-elongated and hairy with 1 to 2 mm long, star-shaped bristles. The rays of these bristles are 0.2 to 0.3 mm long. There may be sparse fine hairs between the bristles.

The flower stalks are 2 to 4 mm long. The bracts are shorter than the calyx . This is 10 to 12 mm long at the time of flowering, enlarges on the fruit to up to 16 mm and is covered with simple bristles. The crown is 18 to 20 mm long, pale yellow and sparsely hairy.

The fruits are about 3 mm long, smooth nuts .

Occurrence

The species is common in northeast Italy , Trentino and possibly northwest of the former Yugoslavia .
