Clawed salamander is a genus of Caudates (caudata) from the family of Asiatic salamander .

features

The skin of these newts is smooth. Lungs are absent. The palatal teeth are arranged in two continuous, arched rows. The rib furrows are well defined. The long, strong tail is slightly compressed at its end, but cylindrical at the base. There are five toes on each extremity. Fully developed larvae and adults have distinct, blackish, pointed claws. The larvae are rheophilic, which means that they live in rivers.

Occurrence

The distribution area of ​​the species of this genus includes the southern far east of Russia, the bordering China to Wŏnsan in Korea and in Japan the mountains on Honshū and Shikoku .
