OpenSceneGraph is an open source scene graph system (SG) that works in real-time graphics applications such as: B. FlightGear is used.

OpenSceneGraph was written in C ++ , uses OpenGL as the basis for 3D graphics, and runs on a variety of operating systems including Microsoft Windows , Mac OS X , Linux , IRIX , Solaris, and FreeBSD .

Although it has a similar name to the scene graph system OpenSG and was started around the same time, they are two different and independent projects.

The development of OpenSceneGraph began in 1998 by Don Burns. Robert Osfield joined in 1999. The project does not record any download rates and has no way of measuring the number of active users. However, the number of subscribers to the OSG mailing list increased to more than 1500 readers in 2006.
