The Open Desktop Workstation , also known as ODW , is a computer based on the PowerPC architecture made by Genesi in Austin (Texas) . The ODW has an exchangeable CPU, taking Power Architecture -based microprocessors from IBM and Freescale Semiconductor into account .

The Open Desktop Workstation is a standardized version of the Pegasos II . This was the first open source- based PowerPC computer and represented a host / target development environment for the PowerPC. Genesi provided the complete specification ( design and component listing ) free of charge. The Home Media Center , derived from the ODW, won the Best in Show award at the Freescale Technology Forum in 2005 , has an ATI certificate and a Ready for IBM Technology certificate.

Different operating systems, for example MorphOS , Linux , QNX and OpenSolaris are supported. The production of the ODW was interrupted in favor of Efika .
