It was developed in order to be able to cover all requirements that are placed on a commercial system with free software and is based on Apache Open For Business . Due to the implementation in Java, it can be used on all platforms for which the corresponding runtime environment is available. Opentaps contains a database abstraction layer and therefore supports various database systems, including MySQL , PostgreSQL or Microsoft SQL Server .

features

Opentaps integrates sales, advertising and customer care. It includes warehousing , including those of third-party providers, supplier management and bookkeeping, including double-entry bookkeeping and the generation of tax information from online or real transactions. In contrast to many other products, there is no paid enterprise version and therefore no limit to the number of branches, catalogs, product categories or products. There is also no limit to the number of customers. The goods to be managed can be physical, digital, and downloadable. Configurable products or different variants are also provided. A voucher system is also available. There is also an administration of user groups for which different price rules can be created. Large payment systems such as B. PayPal , can be integrated easily. The system automates the sales process, from the evaluation of buyer behavior to the implementation of the resulting changes. It generates a representation of sales and sales opportunities including estimates of future sales.

The sharing of schedules and documents may be a. made possible by a connection to Outlook and the Google Calendar . Opentaps also offers a browser-based e-mail client and its use of an external e-mail server. Integration of IP telephony is also planned. With the help of these vectors, it is so easy to implement advertising campaigns via newsletters and customer calls. There is also integrated parcel tracking for the customer with UPS, FedEx, and DHL.

The community around the project has so far translated the interface and documentation into German, Chinese, French, Italian and Spanish.
