Operation Infinite Justice

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Operation Infinite Justice (German: infinite justice ) was a planned military retaliation by the Ministry of Defense of the United States in response to the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001 at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon .

The term Infinite Justice was intended to emphasize the continuity with Operation Infinite Reach , in which air strikes against al-Qaeda training camps in Afghanistan and Sudan were carried out in 1998 . Infinite Reach had been a US retaliation for the bombings on US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania .

After the planned Operation Infinite Justice became known , there were protests by Muslim groups, since in their opinion Allah alone is able to exercise infinite justice . For this reason, the name of the planned military actions was changed to Enduring Freedom on September 25, 2001 .
