Operational Diving Division

The Operational Diving Division or ODD for short is a combat swimmer unit of the South African Navy . She reports to the Maritime Reaction Squadron . The unit was founded in 1957. It consists of four operational diving teams, each with 17 divers. Operational units of the Diving Division were among others in Tanzania and before the Somali coast used to the piracy fight. The unit has its own boats, but some of them are out of date, as they exceeded the originally planned 16-year service life in 2008.
