The Rättvik Sacrificial Stone is located about 3 km south of Rättvik , in the Swedish province of Dalarnas län and the historical province of Dalarna , in an area on the Siljan (lake) known as Offerbäcken ( German  "sacrificial hill" ).

The limestone block , called Offerstenen in Swedish, is a large table-shaped slab of rock, the underside of which is weathered in a pillar shape, which is reminiscent of an altar or table in shape and probably led to the name. According to the Riksantikvarieämbetet, the block was created naturally and has only been called this since the 1860s. It has no bowls that are typical of the southern areas used by the funnel beaker culture (TBK) and its subsequent cultures and the stone blocks there also known as sacrificial stones (such as the Brillinge stone ).
