Orange planet

Orange Planet ( Japaneseオ レ ン ジ ・ プ ラ ネ ッ ト) is a manga series by Haruka Fukushima , which so far has around 500 pages. It is aimed primarily at young girls and can therefore be assigned to the Shōjo genre.

Rui Nagasaki lost her parents as a young child. On the day of her death, an older boy gives her consolation and gives her a plush bear, Haru. Since then she has been writing letters to Haru regularly.

Six years later she lives alone and goes to high school. Her best friend and neighbor, Taro, is in love with Rui, who in turn only has eyes for classmate Kaoru. After a house fire, the student Eisuke moves in with Rui because he was injured in part because of her. He causes chaos in Rui's life. Eisuke shows up not only in Rui's apartment, but also at her school. As a trainee teacher he teaches Rui's class, but it must be kept secret that they share an apartment. It later turns out that Rui's crush, Kaoru, is homosexual. He is in love with Taro, while he will soon confess his love to Rui. The cohabitation of Eisuke and Rui comes out, which is why Eisuke has to give up his studies for the time being and Rui has to move in with her aunt.

Publications

The manga has been published in Japan since 2006 in individual chapters in the monthly manga magazine Nakayoshi , which has a sold circulation of around 420,000 per issue. The Kōdansha publishing house also publishes these individual chapters in edited volumes.

In Germany, Orange Planet's anthologies have been published by Tokyopop since July 2007 . Five volumes have so far been published in German.

reception

The manga was recommended for reading by a jury of 60 young people in 2008, which is why the series was also presented in the Frankfurter Rundschau . The jury was to evaluate 400 books, comics and films on behalf of the Frankfurt City Library and in cooperation with the Frankfurt Lions Club .
