history
The history of the brewery goes back to 1671. In the following year, d'Orangienboom was merged with the Rotterdam brewery de Dissel . Numerous changes of ownership followed in the history of the brewery. When the brewery was sold in 1742, the name was changed to the Oranjeboom .
The Boom brewery was founded in Breda in 1538 and was renamed de Drie Hoefijzers ( Three Horseshoes ) in 1628 after the smithy opposite . It was not until 1968 that the two breweries were merged under the name Oranjeboom Bier Brouwerij BV , based in Breda. The owner was the Dutch subsidiary of the British Allied Breweries , Verenigde Bierbrouwerijen Breda-Rotterdam BV
On February 6, 1995, Oranjeboom was taken over by the Belgian Interbrew group , today's AB-InBev. In 1973 the brewery was renamed Skol , but the Skol brand was unsuccessful and the brewery returned to its old name in 1982. Production in Breda ceased on May 29, 2004. Today only the brewery museum het Fust reminds of this chapter of Rotterdam and Breda economic history.
