Order of the Spanish Republic
The Order of Merit of the Spanish Republic ( Spanish: Orden de la República Española ) was an order of the Second Spanish Republic for civil merits and achievements.
The order was founded in 1932 to replace the many orders of merit of the former Spanish monarchy.
The Order of the Spanish Republic initially consisted of eight, later nine degrees:
- Collar : for heads of state and persons of the highest importance who have owned a Gran Cruz or Banda for at least five years .
- Gran Cruz or Banda : for heads of state, vice presidents, heir to the throne, prime ministers, presidents of parliament, ministers, ambassadors, division generals and vice admirals , among others
- Encomienda con Placa : for state secretaries, general directors, brigade generals, rear admirals, governors, mayors of large cities, university directors, prelates, civil servants with an income of more than 15,000 pesetas
- Encomienda ( Komtur ): lower ranks (e.g. frigate captains, faculty deans, members of science academies, civil servants with salaries over 10,000 pesetas)
- Oficial ( officer's cross ): e.g. B. for corvette captains, civil servants with salaries over 7,000 pesetas
- Caballero ( Knight's Cross ): z. B. Army and Navy officers, civil servants with salaries over 3,000 pesetas
- Cruz de Plata (Silver Cross):
- Medalla de Plata (silver medal)
- Medalla de Bronce (bronze medal)
- Banda para señora : for women who meet requirements comparable to those for Gran Cruz or Banda
- Lazo para señora : for all other women to be awarded
By decree of October 30, 1934, the order was supplemented by an award to be awarded to groups, the Corbata de la Orden de la República , which could be attached to the flags or standards of the awarded organization.
According to the decree of December 4, 1934, the prerequisites for the award of the various degrees were specified and also regulated that if the award was repeated, it was possible to move up to a higher class.
