Order of good friendship

The order of good friendship , also referred to as the (good) friendship order , was a cross-national German award. The other denomination of the order, the Order of the Golden Bracelet , referred to the shape of the order decoration . It is also described as the Order of the Golden Braßelet (modern times: bracelet ).

Elector Johann Georg IV. Of Saxony and Elector Friedrich III. von Brandenburg jointly founded this order on the occasion of a meeting in Torgau . Foundation day was January 25, 1692. It was intended to strengthen the alliance of the royal houses.

Twelve awards were given in each of the two principalities.

The medal quickly expired.

Order decoration

The decoration was a gold bracelet on a red ribbon with two armored palm branches and hands entwined. The inscription read: "Unis pour jamais". On the other side was the name of the elector with the inscription: "sincere amitie". In this knightly order, the Saxon sword and the Brandenburg scepter were arranged alternately in the decoration.
