Order of the Dragon of Annam
The Order of the Dragon of Annam ( fr. Ordre du Dragon d'Annam ) was founded on March 14, 1886 by Emperor Đồng Khánh , supreme lord of the Annam Empire , as a civil and military merit order. The French colonial power downgraded the emperor to king and so the order is occasionally called the royal order of the dragon of Annam.
On May 10, 1896, the order was renamed a French Order of Colonial Merit , the Order of the Green Dragon of Annam . Award proposals were confirmed by the French President.
The order has not been awarded since 1946.
