The Order of St. Christopher was an Austrian order .

It was established in 1517 by various people from the nobility and knighthood. Ladies could become members of this order. The purpose was to put a stop to the vice of cursing and drinking excessively.

The originators of this social connection came from the duchies of Styria , Carinthia and Carniola . Strictly speaking, it wasn't really a real knightly order . The actual founder was Siegmund von Dietrichstein Reichsfreiherr zu Hollenburg Finkenstein and Thalberg (* 1484, † 1533), who drafted the statutes , in the introduction of which the association was described as an "order".

The members of this society were forbidden to swear or swear. A violation of this statute was punished with a guilder . In the sixth incident, you were expelled from society. Customary drinking and drinking competitions were fined two guilders.

An image of St. Christopher was worn on a chain or cord around the neck, or otherwise visible. If the medal was invisible, a fine of three Kreuzers had to be paid. The statutes were adopted in Graz on June 22, 1517. Every year, the members of the order came to Graz for worship and dinner, followed by the election of a new captain.
