Order of the Green Shield

The Order of the Green Shield was a French knightly order .

It was donated on January 1, 1369 by Duke Ludwig II of Bourbon . The occasion was his return from English captivity. The honor should be given to knights who subscribe to the principle of chivalry.

The medal was a green shield with a beaded cross tie. The order's motto was: "Allen" , from the French Allons tous ensemble au service de Dieu, et soyons unis en la défense de nos pays, et là où nous pourrons trouver à conquérir honneur par fait de Chevalerie . The order had seventeen members and expired after a short time.
