The Ordensburg Barten is a facility of the Teutonic Order in Barciany .
history
The Ordensburg was built in 1325 by the Brandenburg Commandery on the site of a Prussian refugee castle in Barten. At first it was the seat of governors and carers .
Under Grand Master Winrich von Kniprode , the castle was converted into a commandery in 1377 and then massively expanded. Heinrich von Plauen resided here from 1402 to 1406 as a carer.
At the beginning of the Thirteen Years War , the Ordensburg was badly damaged as a result of a fire, but was then rebuilt. Due to financial problems, the order had to pledge the castle in 1480. From 1533 it was the seat of an official governor and from 1842 it functioned as an agricultural property.
The north wing burned down during the First World War and after the Second World War the castle and estate were nationalized. In 2000 the former Ordensburg was auctioned and was then empty.
building
To the east is the still preserved main wing with a gateway. The chapel and the chapter house are on the ground floor .
Use as a hotel is planned.
