The Ordinariate for the Believers of the Eastern Rites in Spain with its seat in Madrid is incumbent on the episcopal direction and jurisdiction over all Catholic Christians of the Eastern Catholic Churches in Spain , i.e. for members of the 23 Uniate Eastern Churches and their descendants, for which there is no separate hierarchy.

The Ordinariate for the Believers of the Eastern Rites in Spain was established on June 9, 2016 by Pope Francis . On the same date, the Archbishop of Madrid , Carlos Osoro Sierra , was appointed first full professor.
