Ordnance Island , sometimes called Ordinance Island , is a very small island in northeastern Bermuda . The island is located in Saint George's Harbor , less than forty meters off the south coast (at the height of King's Square ) of the Bermudian city of Saint George’s , with which it is now connected by a small bridge.
The island, about 160 meters long and 39 meters wide, is artificial: Tiny islets in the bay ( Duck Stool Island , Frazer's Island and Gallows Island ) were connected by sand dumps.
Ordnance Island once served as a storage facility for military equipment, later as a submarine base for the US Navy and today primarily only as a pier for cruise ships .
The island belongs to the area of the (independent) city of Saint George's, and therefore - like this one - does not belong to the Saint George's Parish .
